FRAMED / Specification
Everything a drawing needs. If you are specifying FRAMED into a project, this page is the reference.
1½″ × 1½″ × ⅛″ hot-rolled steel angle. One leg stands off the wall, the other lies flat against it. The mirror or panel rests down inside the L on the back leg, so the room sees only the ⅛″ edge of the standing leg while the frame stands 1½″ proud of the wall.
| Member | Dimension |
|---|---|
| Standing leg, off the wall | 1½″ |
| Back leg, along the wall | 1½″ |
| Material thickness | ⅛″ |
| Edge visible head on | ⅛″ |
| Glass clearance, each side | ⅛″ |
The backing is supplied by others and is the client's choice. Whatever it does not fill becomes the
shadow line. reveal = 1½ − ⅛ (back leg) − backing − ¼ (mirror)
| Backing | Reveal it gives |
|---|---|
| ¾″ | ⅜″ |
| ½″ | ⅝″ |
| ¼″ | ⅞″ |
| ⅛″ | 1″ |
Glass is cut to the frame opening less ¼″ total, ⅛″ clearance per side. Any size is made to order; the four below are the catalogue.

| F.03 | 48 × 72″ | 47½ × 71½″ | $1,350 |

Powder coat, matte black or warm white. Corners are mitered at 45° on a fiber laser, welded by hand and ground flush, so no seam or bead is visible at the joint.
Steel alone runs roughly 1.23 lb per foot of angle, so a 36 × 48″ frame is about 14 ft and 17 lb before glazing. Glazed weight depends on the mirror and the backing the client selects; the configurator on the main page computes it. Anything over 60 lb installed ships with blocking specified on the drawing.
| Case | Supplied |
|---|---|
| Wall piece, shipped | Steel frame only. Glass and backing by others. |
| Wall piece, Portland & Vancouver | Complete. FRAMED supplies and sets the glass. |
| Floor mirror, anywhere | Complete, mirror set. It leans, so nothing is hung. |
Two weeks to ship, counted from the day the drawing is approved. Nothing is cut before approval. Where FRAMED scans the opening, the fit is FRAMED's responsibility. Where the client supplies dimensions, the frame is built to the approved drawing.
Cut, welded and finished in Vancouver, Washington. Questions on a specific opening: 360-857-8002.
